Production Update #1
February 22nd, 2026.
Production is set to begin this week, having fallen a little bit behind schedule with storyboarding and scripting having to be rethought and somewhat edited due to feasibility and practicality to fit into my available resources, time, and permissions. The scripting is complete, friends recruited as actors, and storyboarding is more or less complete with plans laid out. Location scouting has been undertaken to a satisfactory extent to be cognizant of the locations that will be shot in the opening sequence. Permissions to film in sensitive spaces have been requested and granted by appropriate figures to ensure there is no disruption to normal school activity during filming during the school day. I have also mapped out how I want to shoot the scenes, the dialogue, and building up a tension in the opening sequence that drives the plot in motion. Currently, I see no issues with equipment to be used in filming, other than stability of my hands while I film using my mobile device which I expect to be able to mitigate. Realistically, the biggest challenge now is for friends to satisfactorily deliver their lines, actions, and movements to ensure final footage is realistic enough, grounded, and creates a feasible storyline. Some test scenes with no actors or any dialogue were filmed during location scouting to replicate the shots I intend to create in the final footage to get a feel for what I plan to shoot when actual shooting takes place with my friends as the actors, giving myself a vision for the final footage I intend to create.
For editing and post production, using CapCut will most likely be the case as it was a platform I used for a previous editing project earlier in the year for this class, and it's format and mechanics are one I am familiar with enough to make the editing work out to my desired visions. Currently, production should be able to finish on schedule this week with adequate footage obtained from the week as long as my friends are ready to help me out since they plan to film their projects off-campus and not during school hours when this class is taking place when I am filming.
